maintaining an orthodox presenceMany of us are familiar with Maria (Kouremenou) and David Khoury as devout fellow students and graduates of Hellenic College. They are married and have three children. They live in the Holy Land where they continually struggle to maintain an Orthodox presence in the land where our Lord lived and preached. Maria is a graduate of Harvard University and Boston University with a doctor of education degree. She has written several Orthodox Christian children’s books including Christina Goes to Church, as well as many articles that have been published world-wide in numerous papers and magazines and translated into various languages to bring awareness of the Christian presence in the Holy Land. Maria’s Christian books are published in the Holy Land and promote Orthodox Christian values, traditions and spiritual growth. Currently, a volunteer at the St. George Church in Taybeh, Palestine, she is fundraising for a project to help sustain the Christian community and improve living conditions of families in need. Each house costs approximately $50,000 to build. We need your support for this crucial project to keep the Orthodox Christian presence in the Holy Land. Would you advocate that each of your parishioners offer just $1 during Advent to support this effort? Perhaps the Philoptochos or outreach programs could add their own donations. When you have your parishioners’ and organizations’ donations, send one total check to the Metropolis made out to the Metropolis of Boston Holy Land Housing. We sincerely appreciate all your efforts in support of this worthy cause. Fr. Athanasios DemosChancellorMetropolis of Boston
