SYOSSET,
NY [OCA Communications] — In an effort to
better meet the needs of its readers, and in
light of ever-increasing publishing and
production costs and the recently announced
sharp increase in postage rates, current issues
of "The Orthodox Church" newspaper are
being posted on the Orthodox Church in America's
web site at www.oca.org.
The August-September-October 2005 issue, which
features detailed information on the 14th
All-American Council, is already on-line, while
the November-December issue will be posted
shortly after Thanksgiving.
Possible changes in TOC's format were discussed
at the All-American Council, primarily in light
of the hundreds of thousands of hits the OCA web
site receives monthly.
In the past, TOC had not been posted on the web
site, and many clergy and laity alike have
suggested that it would be more widely read if
posted on the site.
The current and subsequent issues are available
in PDF format and may be read on-line or easily
printed out.
Parish clergy are being asked to inform their
parishioners to log on to the OCA web site to
read the latest and subsequent issues.
On November 21, 2005, members of the
communications department will meet to discuss
plans for TOC's future format, distribution, and
related matters. Reactions to the on-line
edition will be taken into consideration.
Suggestions and comments for improving these
efforts may be sent to the department at
info@oca.org.
