This
long-awaited return took place after years of
negotiations and meeting with representatives of
different governmental organizations of the
Russian Federation. His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY
of Moscow and All Russia as well as His Beatitude,
Metropolitan THEODOSIUS, retired Primate of the
Orthodox Church in America both played an integral
part in the process of returning the property to
the church by writing letters to various
governmental authorities. His Beatitude,
Metropolitan HERMAN, during his last visit to
Moscow in June, 2005, inspected the property and
received the keys to two rooms that were give to
the parish at that time. Participating
in the ceremony of the signing of the act was the
Advisor to the Chairman of the Federal Agency for
Culture and Cinematography of the Russian
Federation, Mr. Boris V. Ivanov, the Inspector for
Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Moscow
City Government, Mrs. Tatiana D. Bozhutina, the
Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer of the US Embassy
in Moscow, Mrs. Deborah L. Sisbarro,
Representatives of the Historical and Cultural
Monuments of the Moscow City Government and Staff
of St. Catherine the Great Martyr Church (http://www.st-catherine.ru).
