Mickey Hodges The
Orthodox Christian Mission Center, St. Augustine,
FL - The Orthodox Christian Mission
Center has hired Mickey
Hodges to serve as its new Director of
Communications. He steps in for former director
Sofia Lopoukhine, who is now working in a similar
capacity at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary. “Sofia
will be missed,” says new director Hodges.
“She deserves accolades for all her hard work.
There’s no way I can ever match her output. In
fact, I’m thinking about having her old keyboard
bronzed.”
“In
addition to writing skills, Mr. Hodges brings a
wealth of marketing experience to OCMC,” adds
Father Martin Ritsi, Executive Director of the
Mission Center. Prior
to joining OCMC, Hodges ran Adzooks, his own
marketing communications firm, for 13 years. His
projects have included print, broadcast and
interactive work for clients such as: FedEx,
Hilton, ServiceMaster, International Paper, Smith
& Nephew, Thomas & Betts, Memphis Zoo,
First Tennessee Bank, Bryan Foods, Philips,
Terminix, and more. Over
the years, his work has received numerous local,
regional and national accolades, including
recognition in Communication Arts Advertising
Annual, the Athena Awards, the Print Regional
Design Annual, the London International
Advertising Awards, Best Of Show/Print in the
Little Rock Addys and Best of Show/Broadcast in
the Memphis Addys. Hodges also has taught a class
in advertising creativity at the Memphis College
of Art. Prior to his 20-plus
years in advertising, Hodges served as the chief
writer and first editor of Timeless Insights
(now called Closer Walk), a monthly
devotional guide published by Walk Thru the Bible
Ministries. His work also appears prominently in
the Closer Walk New Testament (Zondervan,
1990). A Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate in Classical Languages
at Furman University, he holds a Master of Arts in
Classics from Vanderbilt University. Hodges also
translates ancient Greek and biblical texts
(particularly Byzantine liturgical hymns) for the
Orthodox Church, including parts of the
soon-to-be-published Orthodox Study Bible (Summer
'06).
