Author Nick Katsoris Kicks Off National Book Tour at Opening of St. John the Theologian’s Children’s Library

NEW YORK: Author Nick Katsoris recently kicked off his national book signing tour for his new children’s book “Loukoumi,” by participating in the opening ceremonies of the new children’s library at The Cathedral of St. John the Theologian in Tenafly, New Jersey. Katsoris, who read Loukoumi to over 100 Sunday school students, followed with a book signing where the author made a donation from the sale of each book to the library fund.

Katsoris also addressed the congregation at St. John’s and spoke about how he became an attorney and a writer. The author attended church at the Metropolitan Cathedral as a teenager and explained that his writing roots blossomed while a member of the GOYA at St. John’s as he wrote a column for the church newsletter titled “GOYA News.” He also won first prize while representing the church in the Sights & Sounds statewide writing competition for an essay about retaining ethnic culture in this country.

Loukoumi is the story of a little lamb, who was supposed to go from Greece to America with her family, but she got on the wrong plane, and then the wrong train, and then the wrong boat. In this international journey through Greece, France, Italy and Morocco, Loukoumi meets Fistiki the cat, Dean the dog and Marika the monkey, each helping Loukoumi find her way home.

Katsoris plans to design a series of books around Loukoumi and her friends, Dean, Fistiki and Marika. In addition to the book, the author has designed the plush toy Loukoumi lamb and some clothing items. He also plans to have the book translated into Greek early next year.

Katsoris, who has also held benefit signings at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle and The Annunciation Church in New York City, will also visit other churches as part of his book tour including St. Demetrios in Westin, Massachusetts (November 6) and Kimisis tis Theotokou in Poughkeepsie (December 4th). The Loukoumi book tour will also include stops at several Barnes & Noble stores including New Jersey (October 5), New York (Brooklyn November 12), Pennsylvania (Wilkes Barre October 15), Massachusetts (Framingham (November 4), Florida, Washington DC and Chicago. For a complete schedule or for information visit the book’s website at www.Loukoumi.com or call 212-397-2804.
