USAID International Director visits the Holy Sites of St. Petersburg

(l-r) Mr Terry Myers of the US Embassy in Moscow - Archimandrite Zacchaeus - Mr Andrew Natsios of USAID before the relics of St Xenia of Petersburg

During his working visit to St. Petersburg, Mr. Andrew Natsios, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where he was able to meet with leaders of various NGO and State operated heath care organizations, and others to discuss ways in which USAID can work together with the Russian Federation in the war on HIV/AIDS and human trafficking, visited several of the city’s Orthodox holy sites.

Accompanied by Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate, Mr. Natsios, an Orthodox Christian, had the opportunity to venerate the relics of St. Xenia of Petersburg at the Smolensk Cemetery, the wonderworking Kazan Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos at Kazan Cathedral on the historic Nevsky Prospect, and also the relics of St. John of Krondstadt at the St. John of Rila Convent. During the visit to the St. John of Rila Convent, Mr. Natsios and his delegation were offered a comprehensive tour by Nun Nektaria, the assistant to the Convent’s Abbess, Mother Seraphima.

Mr. Andrew Natsios’ visit to the Orthodox holy sites of St. Petersburg was organized by the Representation of the Orthodox Church in America (http://www.st-catherine.ru).
