New York.- Metropolitan Nikitas of Hong Kong and South East Asia announced that The Ecumenical Patriarchate has sent a sum over $468.000 US Dollars in continued support of the relief efforts in Southeast Asia.

Expressing gratitude to His All Holiness and The Ecumenical Throne, Metropolitan Nikitas said that he was “overwhelmed with joy, as this allows the Church to continue its work in the tsunami - hit areas”.

The Hong Kong Metropolitanate Office has been working with IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities), as well as other agencies, as it tries to build for the future with a vision of hope. Plans are already underway for the building of schools, a clinic, the care of orphans, the offering of scholarships and much more.

As with donations received in the past for tsunami – related work, the Metropolitanate will issue an audited statement in the near future. The Ecumenical Patriarchate has offered the largest donation to the Metropolitanate for relief work.
