Agreement will fund Orthodox Unity efforts for yearsDETROIT The Board of Directors of St. Andrew House, Center for Orthodox Christian Studies, announced today it has entered into an agreement that will free up the organization to focus 100 percent of its efforts on promoting unity among the numerous Eastern Orthodox churches in the United States.Under the agreement, St. Andrew House will sell the physical property and building located as 23300 West Davison Avenue in Detroit. The agreement will relieve St. Andrew House of the requirements of maintaining the facility so it can devote all its efforts fostering Orthodox unity in North America. "We have been doubly blessed, first by one major benefactor coming forward to allow us to begin this project, and now by a second "gift from God" which will allow us to put our educational and web activities into high gear, all for the purpose of promoting Orthodox unity," said Archbishop NATHANIEL (Popp) of Detroit, president of St. Andrew House. "The American saints are truly watching over us." Archbishop NATHANIEL added that the Center for Orthodox Christian Studies, St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Parish, and the Monastery of the Holy Ascension will continue their full programs of activities on the property. Mr. Augustin Vincent, Detroit businessman and major benefactor of the Center fully endorsed the new agreement, noting that, "It seems as if God really wants to make a go of this its been a tough road, but I think Hes smiling on our efforts." The mission of the Center for Orthodox Christian Studies St. Andrew House is to promote the Orthodox Christian faith by word and example through formal instruction, worship and good works.
