The Society for the Preservation of Christian Heritage in the Holy Land is pleased to announce that it has joined in promoting a new initiative for peace in the Holy Land. This initiative was conceived and guided to production by Father Raed Abusahlia, the parish priest of Taybeh, the Priests Committee and the "Colitiviamo la Pace Association" (Growing Peace Together Association) in Florence, Italy with the blessing of both the Cardinal of Florence, H.E. Ennio Antonelli, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, H.B. Michel Sabbah. It involves the production and distribution of two olive oil based lamps, which are produced in the village of Taybeh in Palestine and designed to be lit with an accompanying prayer for peace in the Holy Land. This new initiative has the following goals: 1. To unite people around the world in prayer for peace in the Holy Land and to plead for divine intervention to help solve the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. 2. To be an informational tool regarding the difficult conditions that the Christian communities of the Holy Land are facing and to pray for an end to a conflict that has lasted long enough by the means of an equitable and just negotiated solution. 3. To help the Christian communities in the Holy Land with job prospects through the production and sale of the Peace Lamp. This lamp is produced in workshops in the "Olive Branch Foundation" in Taybeh which is a center for the promotion of the products of the Holy Land where more than 20 young men and women work to secure their livelihoods and those of their families in dignity through gainful employment. 4. To provide a vital marketing outlet for olive oil produced in the Holy Land. 5. To support social, health, development and peace building programs. Join us in praying for peace in the Holy Land."
