Decisions taken by the Spiritual Court of the Archdiocese against the members of the Board of the Transfiguration Church in Corona, New York are so severe that they can only be viewed as sending a signal to the other church boards to either obey or get out. On this page, we support a dynamic leadership for our Church. This case was mishandled from the beginning, however. When the Archdiocese needed to exercise leadership, it did not. When it needed to punish someone it punished the members of the board for exposing alleged improprieties. Recently, it brought in a new priest in an effort to reintroduce tranquility to a bitterly torn community who, in his previous assignment, caused division in another parish. He also brought in members of that church to serve in key positions. Something is wrong here. And before it is corrected, we fear the Greek school will close down, and the community will split apart so much that no one will be able to pick up the pieces. |
