The Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in America recently honored Rev. Joakim Valasiadis with the Orthodox Scouting Commission’s Prophet Elias Award. The Prophet Elias Award recognizes outstanding service to Eastern Orthodox Scouting. Father Kim was ordained in December 1954 (more than 50 years ago) and recently retired after serving St. Paul’s Cathedral in Hempstead, Long island for 33 years.
