Project AXIOS

Axios!, a Greek word expressing a truly worthy and deserving person, describes youth in need around the world in need of our help. The Orthodox Christian Fellowship on campus is partnering with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), a humanitarian aid agency serving youth and families in more than 25 countries around the world, to provide emergency aid and development assistance. Your support for youth in need through Project AXIOS! can help:

·                                 Provide basic computer training and classroom support for teachers and students — giving them skills that can help them succeed

·                                 Support educational programs to teach youth how to prevent infections and spread HIV/ AIDS

·                                 Repair or build new schools, libraries, playgrounds and other youth facilities for youth

·                                 Bring urgently-needed emergency supplies, including blankets, personal hygiene kits as well as school books and classroom materials to youth affected by disasters or living in poverty.

Project AXIOS is taking place during great lent. Information including posters, instructions and refection were send to each OCF or download more information at www.projectaxios.org

OCFs: Apply for a Vocation Grant

National OCF, in conjunction with “We Offer These Gifts:” A Program for the Theological Exploration of Vocation at Hellenic College, will grant a total $25,000 this year to registered OCFs and OCF programs that use the grant to offer opportunities for college students to engage in “the theological exploration of vocation.” OCF groups may apply for a relevant amount between $100 and $5000.

These Vocation Grants are made possible by way of a grant received by Hellenic College in Brookline, MA through the Lilly Endowment Inc. The Lilly Endowment Inc. believes in keeping religious communities strong and vibrant, and that college campuses are where this vital energy is to come from. “Colleges and universities thus have a pivotal opportunity to help students explore their options and make life-defining decisions in light of their intellectual and faith commitments.” (www.ptev.org)

Grant proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, so OCF groups may apply at any time. However, an initial proposal must be received at least twelve weeks (or one semester) before the proposed project and/or start of funding. Learn More>>>
