I have recently come across an article entitled 'Regarding Fr. Alexis Vinogradov's Article' submitted on February 28, 2005 by Mr. Gregory Parsells.

In it he provides an article entitled 'A Comparison of the Mysticism of Francis of Assisi With That of St. Seraphim of Sarov' that is deeply disturbing. Has Mr. Parsells actually read the writings of St. Francis of Assisi to attest that the claims of this article are
correct?

Furthermore, why did he not provide where he actually found this comparison article? Could it be because it is found on a ROCA (Russian Orthodox Church Abroad) website?

The article itself states: "Originally printed in Synaxis: Orthodox Christian Theology in the 20th Century, Vol. 2, pp. 39-56. Authored by the now-reposed George Macris, who was a Priest in the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in Portland, Oregon at the time of this writing"

Correct me if I am wrong, but ROCA is a schismatic church and it is not in communion with the Orthodox Churches. Quote from OCA (Orthodox Church in America Website):

"3. There also exists the "Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia," sometimes called the "Russian Orthodox Church Abroad" or the "Russian Orthodox Church in Exile." ROCOR has its own episcopacy and is not in communion with the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church, based, of course, in Moscow."

I urge Orthodox Christians to check carefully the authenticity, credentials of the authors they read and not buy into opinions expressed by schismatic groups like the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA/ROCOR).
