Spiritual advisor, teacher and friend to four generations

Saint Paul’s Cathedral in Hempstead, Long Island bid a fond farewell to Rev. Joakim and Presvytera Bessie Valasiadis after 33 years of dedicated service during a special luncheon attended by more than 600 people at Floral Terrace in Floral Park on January 9. The afternoon was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Father Kim’s ordination as a priest. Above, Master of Ceremonies George Lavas reads a letter from President Bush congratulating Rev. Valasiadis for his five decades of service to the priesthood, while Father Kim and Presvytera Bessie listen attentively.
