Dear Friends in Christ: With regard to your article submitted January 27, 2005 entitled "Church of Greece Restores Diaconate for Women", I would be most interested in knowing the actual duties of these monastic deacons. I am a nun and our monastery recently published the first of our Calendar of Orthodox Women Saints for 2005 featuring "Deaconesses of the Early Church". Therefore, you can understand that I would like to keep abreast of changes with regard to the restoration of the female diaconate, especially due to negative feedback from a small number of the Orthodox population.
