A Unique Way to Prepare for Great Lent

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), St. Augustine, FL - Looking for a unique way to prepare for Great Lent in 2005? How about being a witness of the Orthodox Faith to non-Orthodox Christians on the Island of Puerto Rico.

The first OCMC Mission Team of 2005 will go to Puerto Rico from March 4-13 to assist in outreach efforts alongside a local Orthodox mission priest who is making a tremendous impact. Since 1995, Fr. Peter Di Leo has been building up a community of Orthodox Christians into a young and thriving parish in San Juan, the capital city.

Eight people will have the opportunity to prepare for Great Lent by increasing awareness of Orthodox Christianity among college students and other young people under 35 years old in the area. The Mission Team will also be doing maintenance work on a church building and assisting in a homeless shelter.

Fr. Peter has acquired land with hopes to build a family services center as part of his communities’ outreach projects. He recently said, “Even though the people in this area have so little they are very generous with good hearts and when I walk through the streets I receive many hugs.”

Be a part of this unique mission experience and apply now! Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to apply for this Team, but it is not required. With this Team being scheduled early in the year, there is not a lot of time to prepare, so apply today.
