Massive demonstrations are being prepared by the students of the Theological School of Athens if the Minister of Education shall not accept to discuss the draft of law referring to the equalization of the Higher Ecclesiastical Schools with the Academical Theological Faculties. According to the decision taken on Saturday, if they don’ t have news from the Ministry they will get in session once again in order to decide the means of demonstration. According to information reached to RNN in both Theological Faculties the agitation will be so intense as long as both academic teachers and students see this reformation in religious education as a way to increase the unemployment rates of the Theologians. Apart from the memorandum sent by the representatives of the two University Schools, the members of the «Students Theological Association» have sent an open letter to the Minister of Education waiting for answers. In the letter sent to the Minister of Education among others the students notify that in the last examination for the employment of educators for the Public Schools 150 positions were offered with 6000 candidates. The problem will get bigger as soon as the denial of allowance of the participation of graduates of the Higher Ecclesiastical Schools will collapse due to constitutional condition instituting equality of occupational rights of graduates of schools of the same level referring to the same subject. The claim of the students is based on the fact that there is no need for Greek society and Church for more Theologians. There is a huge unemployment problem and there is no use in getting it even larger.
