Put Your Faith in Action - OCMC Mission Teams in 2005

In 2004, OCMC Mission Team members shared their time, talent and energy as they reflected the Love of Christ and taught the Orthodox Christian Faith in many places around the world. In 2005, it could be YOU!

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), St. Augustine, FL - Do you want to be a witness of your Orthodox Faith internationally? Put your Faith in action and apply to participate on an OCMC Mission Team in 2005!

Fifteen scheduled OCMC Mission Teams will offer multiple ways for Orthodox Christians to share their time and talents with an Orthodox community in need around the world. Hard working Orthodox Christians from all walks of life are needed to serve on an Orthodox Mission Team for 1 to 4 weeks. Those who are priests, presbyteras, deacons, students, seminarians, health care personnel (doctors, dentists, nurses), teachers, youth workers, substance abuse counselors, Sunday School teachers, construction workers, photographers and all those willing to share the Orthodox Faith are urged to apply.

While assisting the Orthodox Church, you can put your faith into action by serving in one of the following locations: Alaska, Albania, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Korea, Paraguay, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Romania, Tanzania, and Uganda in 2005.

Youth outreach and teaching in general is the focus for many of the OCMC Mission Teams in 2005. If you have experience with either teens or children, there is a need for you on an OCMC Mission Team in 2005. Nurture orphans in Guatemala or Albania, or help run a youth camp in Korea, Romania, or a Vacation Bible School in the Philippines. Be a reflection of God’s love for all, especially children, by joining one of these Teams.

People are waiting all around the world to learn about the Orthodox Christian Faith, and many are hungry to understand more deeply that which they have already embraced. In 2005, Orthodox Christians will have the opportunity to teach in a variety of settings including Alaska, India, Puerto Rico, Paraguay and Tanzania this spring and summer.

Many of OCMC’s mission efforts address physical as well as spiritual needs of the people we serve and OCMC Mission Teams are no different. In 2005 a team of Substance Abuse counselors will go to help OCMC Missionary, Floyd Frantz, with his programs in Romania. An OCMC Mission Team of dentists will travel to Alaska to provide both treatment and education. A Team of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals will serve in medical clinics in Uganda.

In July 2005, one OCMC Mission Team is going to Chavogere, Kenya for the construction of a science laboratory for a secondary school built in 2002. This area of Kenya has received many OCMC Mission Teams over the years including the first-ever OCMC Mission Team in 1987.
