The Serbian Orthodox Church has filed a suit with the European Court of Human Rights against four European nations over the alleged failure of their soldiers deployed in Kosovo to protect church property in the UN-run province. The Serbian Churchs complaint at the Strasbourg-based court was filed against Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy, Bishop Artemije, the head of the Serbian church in Kosovo, was quoted yesterday as saying by the state-run Politika daily. Bishop Artemije told the daily that dozens of churches and other Serb religious monuments have been destroyed since Kosovo became an international protectorate in 1999. (AP) |
