 In Memoriam: Archimandrite Ambrosius [Pogodin]

SPRING VALLEY, NY [OCA Communications] -- Archimandrite Ambrosius [Pogodin] fell asleep in the Lord here on Saturday, October 30, 2004.

Father Ambrosius was a prolific writer, translator, and scholar, as well as a talented concert pianist. He regularly contributed articles and translated works of the Greek Fathers to various learned Russian periodicals and also published Russian translations of a variety of Greek historical material.

His longest pastoral assignment was at the Nativity of the Virgin Church, Menlo Park, CA. During his lengthy ministry, he also served parishes in the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. He had served the ROCOR parish in Rome, Italy, and was an official ROCOR observer at the Second Vatican Council in the early 1960s.

Funeral services will be celebrated by His Grace, Bishop Benjamin of Berkeley and many clergy of the Diocese of the West on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Nativity of the Virgin Church, Menlo Park, CA. Further details will be published as received.

May Father Ambrosius's memory be eternal!
