St. Vladimir Seminary to Host 35th Annual Orthodox Education Day

CRESTWOOD, NY [OCA Communications] -- Saint Vladimir Seminary here will host its 35th annual Orthodox Education Day on Saturday, October 2, 2004.

The theme of this year's celebration is "I Have Chosen You: Reflections on John 15:16."

The annual outdoor event, which will be held rain or shine, draws large groups of people from Orthodox parishes all over the country for a day of worship, education, fellowship, and a variety of ethnic foods. Saint Vladimir Bookstore sells books at a special Education Day discount and children are drawn to the expansive activities tent set up especially for them.

The day will open with the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America and president of the seminary, at 9:30 am. The choir of Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, Worcester, MA will sing the liturgical responses.

Keynote speaker at this year's celebration is His Eminence, Archbishop Dmitri of Dallas and the South. Afternoon workshops exploring various aspects of the day’s theme will follow. A number of educational displays and booths will also be available throughout the day.

The day's events are free of charge and open to the public.

For further information log on to the seminary web site at www.svots.edu.

Saint Vladimir Seminary, a graduate school of theology, offers a Master of Divinity degree; a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education, Liturgical Music, or General Theology; a Master of Theology degree; and a Doctor of Ministry degree.
