In Response to The Place of the Laity in Our ChurchI would hope that when forming his opinion of what the sacred order of Christ's Church is, Mr. Marovitis might just consult the sacred canons and theologians of the Holy Orthodox Church. Mr. Runciman and Mr. Walsh are historian scholars, no doubt, but hardly the source for the so-called "place of the laity" in the Church. Once again, I must observe that all of the agitation of the laity in the Greek Archdiocese is found principally there. Where are such powerful laymen to be found in other juridictions, who are agitating for "their place?" In the Antiochian? In the Carpatho-Russian? What other jurisdictions, hmm? Or is it just the Greeks who forever are intent on their factionalisms, which the Apostle Paul addressed in Corinth? Is this endemic in the national character? Father Athanasios Emmert Price, Utah |
