CHINESE TRANSLATION PROJECT FINDS HELP FROM ROMANIA

A Chinese translation project of the Prologue from Ohrid by St Nikolai of  Zica from the recently published new English translation done by the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America with blessing from His Grace Bishop Jovan of the Serbian Church, has made some significant strides, made possible through the prayer, financial, and material support of our donors and sponsors.

The translation project of this famous collection of the lives of saints plus hymns, reflections, contemplations and homilies by the recently glorified St Nikolai is finally receiving help in translating the all the sections in the daily reading.

The preliminary translation by our faithful Hong Kong translator of the Lives of Saints section has been completed from January 1st to May 31st.

His work is now taken over by our new Romanian translator, who has begun revising the translation plus completing the other sections of the Prologue reading beginning with January 1st. Being an Orthodox convert and a native Chinese, her translation background includes her current translation effort into Chinese of the life of Fr. Cleopa, Elder of Romanian Orthodoxy. Concerning the Translation Project for the Prologue, she says, "For glorifying Christ I can do everything" and "doing Christ's work is my pleasure."

The maintainer of the Prologue readings on the website of the Serbian Orthodox Church Diocese of Western America (http://westsrbdio.org/prolog) also recently contributed a CD that contains original English texts for the whole year of the Prologue readings, to help facilitate the translation effort, which is especially helpful since not all the readings have been uploaded to the Serbian website yet.

The Project is also looking for donations to help defray project expenses and to compensate our translators. You can even sponsor a specific day for the good health or in memory of loved ones for their names day, wedding anniversary, day of repose, or any other special occasions, which will be noted on the bottom of each entry of the prologue, and those reading the daily devotion for that day can pray for your loved ones. Just email Nelson Mitrophan Chin at mitrophan_@_orthodox.cn for availability of a requested day.
