 "The Gospel of John" DVD Now Available Through Greek Orthodox Telecommunications

New York, NY – THE GOSPEL OF JOHN, a 3-disc DVD package that presents a unique dramatization of the life, death and resurrection of Christ, is now available through Greek Orthodox Telecommunications (GOTelecom), the television ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

The GOSPEL OF JOHN combines motion picture excellence with word for word authenticity on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Additionally, the DVD release includes enhanced viewing mode throughout the film that features pop-ups with additional information of geography, historical events and religious figures. A historical background section provides interviews with prominent scholars of theology and religion on the political and religious environment of the times. An interactive map allows viewers to experience the miracles and major events of Jesus’ life. Special features also include a “Chapter and Verse” search function, the theatrical trailer, production notes, cast and filmmaker bios.

In supporting the distribution of this film, His Grace Bishop Savas of Troas, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America commented, “Since the birth of cinema over a century ago, film makers have presented audiences with versions of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Some have been faithful to the Gospels; none have been entirely so. Although nearly all have drawn from each of the four Gospels, most have combined this biblical material with imagined characters and invented scenes. That is why this version is so important. It is the first time a film maker has had the courage to record, in its entirety, without adulteration, the Good News according to one particular evangelist. As such, it is an invaluable resource for religious educators, and one that belongs in every parish's video library.”
