CRAIOVA CITY: ANTI-ALCOHOL CONFERENCEOn 18 June 2004, the Department for Social Assistance of the Archdiocese of Craiova (Romania), in collaboration with the Centre of “Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel” for Formation and Counselling and the Medical Christian Charitable of “Christiana” of the Archdiocese of Vad, Feleac and Cluj organised a conference on alcoholism, as well as on its consequences and treatment. The conference is developed within the framework of the programme called “Saint Dumitru Basarabov – a programme of information and treatment of alcoholism, a multidisciplinary model to surpass the alcohol addiction”. A team of American representatives, experts in alcohol addiction, participated in the conference, as well as some other persons involved in combating this phenomenon: physicians, social workers and psychiatrists, priests and social counsellors. Notions about alcoholism, its symptoms and methods of treatment, counselling of the alcoholic’s family were presented during the conference – we learn from the site of the Orthodox Metropolitan See of Oltenia, www. m-ol.ro. |
