Corona kids have right to protestTo the Editor: Bishop Savvas needs a lesson in American civics and government, the foundations of which began in our homeland of Greece. The parents and students of the Transfiguration School in Corona, Queens were exercising their basic fundamental rights guaranteed by the first Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The freedoms of assembly and petition are used by citizens to voice their concerns and should be respected, whether these concerns and opinions are popular or not. It is extremely sad when members of our clergy feel that the opinions and concerns of its young parishioners are not worthy of recognition. The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America must recognize and understand that its own future and that of our faith too, lies with the young generations who attend Greek American schools.
