OCMC Mission Teams Filling Up Fast! The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), St. Augustine, FL - Being a member of an OCMC Mission Team is one of the ways that hundreds of Orthodox Christians have responded to Christ’s command to go to all nations. In 2004, over 100 people will have this opportunity, but spaces are filling up fast. An evangelism/health care Mission Team, scheduled for the end of June, will visit four different villages in Tanzania. Tanzania, in Eastern Africa, has a population of over 35 million people of whom 30% are Christian. The Orthodox Church is thriving in Tanzania and the 2004 OCMC Mission Team members will have the blessed occasion to see this growth and encourage it even further. There remains an essential need for a priest and for health care professionals. In July, another exciting opportunity awaits a priest to lead a team to the Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage in Guatemala City. It is the only Orthodox orphanage in Guatemala that welcomes orphans and lost, abandoned and battered children, run by Orthodox nuns. Over 150 children, who once lived harsh lives, now call the “Hogar” home. Every OCMC Mission Team member that returns from this Orphanage is overcome by the unconditional love the children express. Two very successful OCMC Mission Teams last year were to Ghana in Western Africa. In 2004 the Mission Center hopes to repeat that success with a Mission Team planned for late July. This Team will participate in the construction of a church in a rural area, working alongside local Ghanaians. An important aspect of this Team’s mission will also be teaching and local evangelism. Clergy and those willing to share their faith, time and talents are needed to apply.
